How the Sport Is Played

Sabratact is a full contact, martial, team sport. The weapons are hand held, light weight in nature, similar to the fencing sabre, epee, and the foil (but are not constructed of metal). A number of targets are mounted on padded, leather armor including a helmet with full face protection. Athletes carry shields of various designs. Missiles are light weight javelins. The battle course is large, outdoors, and similar in appearance to a golf course.

Points are scored against individual fighters and bonus points may be scored against field officers according to rank. Contests are broken into a number of timed periods of play with intermissions. The number and duration of periods are adjusted to team size and to the nature of the playing field itself.

Scoring involves a declining balance system with "points scored against" being deducted from 100 points per fighter. At the end of the contest, the team with the highest average score wins the match.
